Overview
The Santé pour le Développement et la Stabilité d’Haïti (SDSH) Project—Pwojé Djanm (“Robust Project”) in Creole—is a three-year project funded by USAID. This project, led by MSH, seeks to increase the availability and use of essential social services. The project provides technical support to the Ministry of Health at central and departmental levels; it supports local service delivery NGOs as well as public sites using performance-based contracts. CCP’s contribution to the project consists in the strategic orientation and provision of technical assistance to the partners in the areas of behavior change communication and community mobilization.
Accomplishments
- CCP has strengthened partners’ BCC and CM capacity through provision of technical support for annual BCC action plans, training of providers to enhance client-provider interaction, and the establishment and effective use of a monitoring system for BCC activities.
- At the community level, we have facilitated the establishment of Communal Health Committees (CCS). Through the implementation of the Community Action Cycle, these communities have organized community events and fora to increase knowledge of and uptake of key health behaviors. The CHC activities are reinforced through coverage on existing community radio station.
- The community activities are further supported through CCP’s work with a variety of peer education programs, including Mothers’ Clubs, Breastfeeding Support Groups (COSAM), and Clubs of Satisfied FP Clients.
- Mass media interventions include: production and broadcast of a series of audio spots; production and broadcast of a radio drama series; design and implementation of a mini multimedia campaigns.
