Beirut, Lebanon - June 4-15, 2007 Workshop information in Arabic
An intensive learning opportunity for decisions-makers, communication managers,
programs officers and donor agency field staff.
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/Center for Communication Programs (CCP) AND THE Faculty of Health Sciences/ the American University of Beirut, present the fourteenth Arabic Advances in Development Communication workshop. Guided by international communication experts, participants explore the elements of effective Development Communication programs with special attention to the development of strategic programs for Family Health. The learning process focuses on the whole individual and emphasizes learning by doing. Participants learn from each other, from knowledgeable trainers, and from the vast resources of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the worldwide experience of the Center for Communication Programs and the faculty of Health Sciences, the American University of Beirut.

Admission
to the Workshop
The Advances workshop will be held from June 4-15, 2007. Participation is open to high and middle-level decision-makers, development communicators, administrators, health educators, program officers and donor agency field staff. Interested individuals are advised to apply early due to the large number of applicants expected and a limited number of places. Participants must be fluent in written and spoken Arabic.

The workshop fee of US $3,000 includes single room accommodations, breakfast, lunch, workshop transportation from airport to conference center and back, trainers costs, background materials, training materials and supplies, computer use, field trips, certificate awards and social programs. The fee does not include dinner, incidental or personal expenses or round-trip travel to Beirut. If you are interested in attending, we encourage you to seek funding to support your participation. Potential funding sources include:

Center for Communication Program
The Center for Communication Programs reaches people in more than 100 countries to help them make important decisions about their health behavior. The Center is part of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, which is known internationally for its leadership and research in public health. The Center operates in more than 60 developing countries. As part of the INFO (Information and Knowledge for Optimal Health) Project, the Center publishes Population Reports, the authoritative review journal on family health topics, and maintains POPLINE, an international population database available on compact disc.
Workshop Accommodations
The workshop will be held at the American University and the participants will be accommodated in Hotel Le Cavalier in Hamra Street, Beirut, Lebanon, which is a walking distance from AUB.
