We
deeply commit ourselves to a lifelong process of learning
to illuminate profound vision, to build
badly-needed communication skills, and
to create a sense of teamwork that ultimately
encourages individuals, families and communities worldwide
to choose better health behaviors,we believe that:
Learning
sparks the vision inspired hope and change in the face
of overwhelming obstacles.
Learning
nurtures the skills needed to build a critical mass
of health communicators who can bring programs and institutions
to higher levels of performance.
Learning
kindles a spirit of teamwork and opens to us work in
true partnership with health professionals throughout
the world.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Demand is growing for systematic, persuasive communication
in public health programs and for the professionals
who can develop, manage, implement, and evaluate such
activities. The Training Division conducts numerous
workshops for program managers and policy makers from
around the world to help them keep up with new technologies
and new strategies in health communication.
Effective communication enhances the achievement of any
social goal. In population and family planning, communication
projects reach a specific audience in order to: inform
them about population dynamics and/or family planning;
persuade them of the personal benefits of family planning;
motivate them to make informed choices about family
planning and to use family planning methods correctly;
or encourage them to inform, persuade, and motivate
others to do the same.
The
objective of JHU/CCP training division is to develop
a critical mass of experts whose combined efforts will
bring population communication programs to higher levels
of performance in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Near
East, and in the New Independent States (NIS).
