The Uganda Health Marketing Group (UHMG), part of the AFFORD project, uses the Model Village concept as an integrated approach to increase awareness of health issues, adoption of healthy behaviors and utilization of quality health services. Community stakeholders—popular opinion leaders, Hero Couples, MARPS Network, Village Health Teams—mobilize the community while linking interventions to health services. UHMG provides training and support to community stakeholders and resource persons to conduct their own interventions within their community. UHMG’s Good Life clinics and drug shops serve as the main referral centers in the Model Village.
The following fact sheets describe UHMG's community-based interventions.
