Overview
Phase Two of the Innovations in Family Planning Services Project (IFPS II) led by Futures Group is a six-year project funded by USAID that addresses reproductive and child health activities at the national level and in three states in northern India (Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand). The IFPS II project focuses on developing, documenting, and leveraging public-private partnerships to provide high quality family planning and maternal and child health services.
Accomplishments
The The Saloni Swasthya Kishori Yojna pilot, an integrated reproductive health, nutrition, and hygiene intervention targeting young adolescent girls (11-14 years) was implemented in 15 schools throughout the Hardoi district in rural Uttar Pradesh.
During Child Health and Nutrition Month, CCP coordinated with UNICEF to develop a consolidated mass media plan and a creative package including radio spots, TV film, press ads and cinema slides.
Creation of the multi-media communication campaign, Aao, Batein Karein (Come, Let’s Talk), in Uttar Pradesh to generate demand for reproductive health services. The campaign stimulated dialogue on family planning between young couples, between providers and clients, and was used to raise awareness and knowledge of family planning methods and allay myths and misconceptions.
Development of a comprehensive Behavior Change Communication strategy for the state of Uttar Pradesh. The Government of India recommended the strategy be adopted on a national scale, and to date, three additional states have begun implementation of the strategy.
Creation of a quarterly newsletter for Ashas, used as a means for peer-to-peer interaction and capacity building, providing practical informationand motivating health workers.
Design and implementation of communication-oriented voucher scheme materials, including new immunization cards.
