The “Stop Malaria in your Community” campaign, implemented by the Stop Malaria Project [1], is designed to improve the self-efficacy of individuals, households and communities to reduce malaria deaths through simple actions. The multi-channel campaign includes radio, billboards, posters and community outreach activities in schools and with community-based groups in 34 districts in Uganda. Across the central, mid-west and eastern regions of the country, 15 stations have been airing radio spots, DJ mentions and radio talk shows. Since May 2011, the campaign and community outreach activities have benefitted approximately 82% of the target audience of persons between the ages of 15–55 years.
The Stop Malaria Project, funded by USAID, assists individuals, households and communities to prevent and effectively treat malaria using existing tools that are easily implemented and affordable. The project asserts that each person in Uganda has the power to help stop malaria’s destruction of their health and economic well being.
