Song Linking Good Life to Good Health Hits a High Note in Ghana

The GoodLife song is part of an overarching multimedia campaign for the Ghana BCS project, a USAID-funded project implemented by the Center for Communication Programs. GoodLife encourages reflection about what makes life “good” and links personal happiness to the practice of healthy behaviors. Ghana BCS is using GoodLife as a platform to discuss and promote positive behaviors in a wide range of health areas, including maternal, neonatal and child health; family planning; malaria prevention and treatment; nutrition; and water, sanitation and hygiene.

A large pool of both well known and new Ghanaian musicians submitted tracks for the GoodLife song. The “GoodLife Allstars”, a group of young musicians, were selected from these applicants and recorded the song and video. The “GoodLife Allstars” include OGA-B (Gabby), Michael Buah (Demus) and Nana Boadu and Adjingo (Mixman Studios).

Response to the song has been overwhelmingly positive. Performed live for the first time on January 1 at the GoodLife Concert in Takoradi, Ghana, the GoodLife song has gained rapidly in popularity on both television networks and radio stations across Ghana. Ghana BCS is working with several telecom networks to make the song available as a caller ring back tone, and the song will also feature as the theme music for the upcoming GoodLife Gameshow which will air in April.
