A Pivotal Moment
Join editor Laurie Mazur, contributing authors to A Pivotal Moment: Population, Justice and the Environmental Challenge, and JHSPH faculty at a Special Dean’s Lecture on October 5 for a discussion about the complex relationship between population dynamics and environmental quality. Sponsored by the Center for Communication Programs, Environmental Health Sciences and the Anna M. Baetjer Lectureship, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, panelists will include Robert Engelman (Worldwatch Institute), Duff Gillespie (Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, JHSPH), Rachel Nugent (Center for Global Development), Cindy L. Parker (Environmental Health Sciences) and Shira Saperstein (Moriah Fund).
Speakers will present the latest research on the relationship between population growth and environmental issues. Using lessons learned from half a century of population policies, our panel will propose just and sustainable next steps for policy makers, program planners and students in the 21st century.
