The Advance Family Planning [1] advocacy initiative has received $28 million in grants to improve access to and use of family planning services, information and supplies. Support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation will enable Advance Family Planning to continue and expand its efforts in nine countries, including India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Senegal, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
In Uganda, Village Health Teams can now provide contraceptive injectables.
JHU∙CCP is a partner in the AFP consortium which is led by the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health Bill & Melinda Gates Institute. JHU∙CCP leads the advocacy training efforts as well as local strategic advocacy implementation in Tanzania and Indonesia.
