General Description: The Research and Evaluation Office will design and supervise cutting edge research and evaluation for health communication programs in Africa and Asia. Will work with an interdisciplinary team in Baltimore and in JHUCCP field offices in developing countries to: Refine and apply theories of communication and behavior change to achieve population level improvements in public health. Develop innovative research approaches and conduct state-of-the-art qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis to meet the needs of donor-funded projects. Coordinate the work and build the capacity of in-country partners and local staff in research for health communication programs. Participate in the preparation of grant proposals. Represent JHU and the Center for Communication Programs in national and international forums. Disseminate research findings and contribute to the development of health communication science through publications, professional meetings and technical reports. Will be eligible to apply for a faculty appointment in the Department of Health, Behavior & Society of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, following standard procedures set by the School. If receiving a faculty appointment, the candidate's scope of work will be adjusted to include teaching, advising and academic responsibilities.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in communication, public health or related behavioral sciences. At least two years of experience in research on health communication, health promotion or social marketing in international settings required. Strong quantitative research skills required; qualitative skills highly desirable. Foreign language ability desireable (French language). Strong skills with statistical and data management software such as STATA, SPSS and CSPro required. Must be able to travel internationally.
