A United Against Malaria banner with malaria messages in Swahili hangs in the Tanzania national Stadium during the Brazil vs Tanzania friendlies match on June 7.

None of the 30,000 people in the Tanzania National Stadium could have missed the malaria messaging on the day of the hallmark match, thanks to the efforts of UAM partners. Voices for a Malaria-Free Future, a Johns Hopkins University project, placed banners on the pitch, in the stadium, and in the stadium’s main entrance with the UAM logo, the national malaria logo Malaria Hikubaliki, and messages about malaria prevention and treatment.

They also placed banners in the general seating areas, press rooms, VIP sections, and parking lots. Thirty ballboys wore UAM-branded jerseys and hats.
