This footbal fan at the Brazil vs Tanzania friendlies match was one of 10,000 who received a United Against Malaria World Cup Journal entitled "GOALl!"

To reinforce these messages, 10,000 copies of the UAM World Cup journal GOAL! were distributed in the fan boxes before the start of the game. Under the motto “One team. One goal. Together we can stop malaria,” this 8-page journal featured photos and interviews of UAM champions like Didier Drogba, Landon Donovan, and Michael Essien. A production of the Voices team—with support from Right to Play, PSI, Path, and many corporate partners, these were the first of 200,000 copies to be produced in nine African countries and in four languages ahead of the World Cup.

After two exciting halves, Brazil took home the game ball—but the match was a winning event for everyone. Tanzania is a UAM success story, thanks to the enthusiastic support of its national team and national malaria control program. Its football federation president—Leodegar Tenga, a UAM champion—and coach Marcio Maximo, a native of Brazil, agree that players in the region certainly have the potential to be world stars but that malaria often keeps them out of competition, robbing the country of talent.
