Yemen

The current population of 16 million in Yemen is projected to double in the next 25 years. The total fertility rate (at 6.5 births per woman) is one of the highest in the world, the maternal mortality rate (estimated at 351 per 100,000 live births) is one of the highest in the world, and only 10% of currently married women use modern contraceptive methods. Unmet need is estimated at 40%.

The national population strategy of Yemen is in the early stage of development. We are helping UNFPA and the government of Yemen to implement a national RH communication strategy.
