Projects
HCP Egypt Project The Communication for Healthy Living project is built upon the principles of Households as Producer of Health; Convergence and Integration; and Focus on Systems. HCP is working with the project to build capacity for health communication among the public, NGO, and private sectors in Egypt. The project involves such innovative activities as a Newlyweds Initiative, including a group wedding celebration to focus on young marrieds' taking responsibility for their own health.
The Gold Star Quality Program: Improving Care and Raising Expectations The Gold Star campaign creates awareness of and enhances consumer perceptions of the family planning services of the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population. The campaign introduced the Gold Star as a symbol of quality services, promotes family planning service providers by showing the level of counseling and care that clients should expect to receive, and promotes family planning services by emphasizing standards of quality treatment and good management.
The Private Sector Initiative (PSI) The PSI campaign was designed to address the contraceptive medical information needs of private physicians and pharmacists and build demand for contraceptive services and products among consumers.
The Clinical Service Improvement (CSI) Project The CSI project has pioneered the concept of quality in family planning and reproductive health care in Egypt. Since its establishment in 1988 as a non-governmental institution, CSI has become a model in three areas:
- Improving service delivery through an emphasis on quality of care, attention to client needs, and sound management practices.
- Accurate management systems, including an automated Management Information System, which is now the prototype for all Egyptian agencies working in population.
- Achieving financial autonomy through cost-recovery efforts and self-financing efforts.
