India
Development of two radio programs
Activity Dates
2004 -2005
Activity Summary
In the summer of 2004, HCP facilitated a design workshop which brought together key stakeholders, target audience representatives, and SIFPSA to develop the design document that serves as a resource for script development and messages for the two radio programs. The radio drama serial for the general public aims to empower and motivate listeners towards behavior change that improves their family’s health. The distance education program enhances health providers’ skills in interpersonal communication, counseling, and technical knowledge pertaining to family planning and maternal and child health. HCP successfully worked with the selected script writers, translator, SIFPSA, and the production firm to finalize 26 distance learning scripts and 26 general public drama scripts. HCP provided technical assistance to pilot test three distance learning and three general public drama scripts in March 2005. The results were impressive with a primary response that people were able to relate to the story and utterly enjoyed the entertaining mode of message delivery. HCP worked with SIFPSA to hire a production agency and produced 26 episodes of both radio programs, which are now being aired on the All India Radio channels in Uttar Pradesh.
