African Transformation - Profiles of Participants

Mr. & Mrs. Ntale
Mr. and Mrs. Ntale are a young Ugandan couple with 4 children who were facing marital problems; Peter was always reluctant to pay school fees for their children because he felt that it was his wife's responsibility to do so. He believed it was solely his decision on how to spend the family income and also never helped his wife with household chores. Inspired by the profiles, he learned that women do a great deal in the home and make a valuable contribution to the family's well-being and thus need to be consulted when deciding how to spend the family income. He now pays schools fees voluntarily for his children and also helps his wife feed their livestock.

Kassim Kizito
Kassim Kizito is a 25-year-old Ugandan male. He was inspired by Abel's profile (which shows a Zambian man helping to care for this wife when she falls ill and the couple jointly deciding on family planning and the number of children to have) and made up his mind that even though his faith permitted him to marry more than one wife, he would marry only one because he learned that love between spouses and working together ensured a happy, healthy family. He also learned that some traditional cultural norms could be harmful. He is now determined to be supportive and faithful to his wife.
