Advocacy and Supportive Environment

Activity Dates

2002-2007

The contribution of this component to the program is through creating an enabling, supportive environment for a normative ideological change to support the messages we need to disseminate and motivate change. Advocacy is a cross-cutting theme that flows through every other component as it streamlines from the lowest levels, such as informal community leaders, to the media and to the highest levels reaching parliamentarians. Through advocacy, leaders are able to create, shape and support the ideas of our campaigns and become norm-setters. Depending upon the specific health issue, national level advocacy efforts may also play a role in influencing policies, removing barriers, and facilitating change regarding health competence within the medical, physical, or social environments in which mass media programs take place.

Objectives, Activities, and Indicators
