Message Harmonization Programs
Activity Dates
2003-2007
Activity Summary
HCP works with over 57 partner agencies with the goal of communicating health messages to 1.3 million people in Ethiopia. In order to maximize the effectiveness of all communication interventions in the country, it is important that partners relay messages that are both accurate and consistent. To achieve this, HCP has:
- Conducted Message Harmonization Workshops
- Developed Message Guides for HIV/AIDS & Youth, FP/RH and CS.
Beginning in March 2004, HCP facilitated a series of Message Harmonization Workshops and developed Message Guides related to child survival, family planning and reproductive health, and youth and HIV/AIDS prevention. At the workshops, over 57 implementing partners, including government agencies, identified issues, high-impact interventions, and key messages to develop the Message Guides. These Guides were developed for all organizations in Ethiopia working on these issues. The objectives were to avoid duplication of efforts and to ensure consistency, accuracy and relevancy of Information, Education and Communication/Behavior Change Communication (IEC/BCC) materials and messages.
The Message Guides developed at the Message Harmonization Workshops have informed all of HCP’s efforts to achieve the stated objectives as stated in the country overview.
