Learning How to Say No
Jesika lives in a sub-town of Rajshahi. She was not doing well in school, so her parents hired a tutor to help her. Soon after this, her parents noticed a difference in Jesika's behavior.
During this time, Jasika's tutor began holding Jesika's hand and making
inappropriate and indecent gestures with his body language. Jesika was worried
about complaining because she thought her parents would take it negatively.
In the mean time, she attended a Life Skills Workshop by Tilottama NGO, supported by BCCP.
At the workshop, Jesika learned many useful things about herself, puberty and reproductive health. She learned "how to say no" politely in difficult situations, and how to make a person of the opposite sex tolerate a response of rejection (or lack of interest).
As a result of the workshop, Jesika decided to discuss her situation with her parents. Her parents were surprised and concerned about their daughter and decided to resolve the matter together. They spoke to the tutor and the matter was resolved.
Jesika's training in the Life Skills Workshop changed
her attitude about her own self-worth.
