Dr. Joseph Speidel

In February 2003, J. Joseph Speidel, MD, MPH joined UCSF’s Center for Reproductive Health, Research and Policy as adjunct professor. Previously he directed the population grants program at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and between 1983 and 1995 served as vice president and president of Population Action International. Dr. Speidel also served as chief of the Research Division and acting director of the Office of Population at the U.S. Agency for International Development. He is the author of more that 75 articles and chapters and editor or author of eleven books and monographs on issues relating to contraception and population.
