Youth HIV/AIDS Campaign
Project dates: 2002-2003
Themes: HIV/AIDS Prevention/Youth, Risk Perception, Sexual Responsibility, Community Mobilization
Overview
This project is being designed by SFPS/BCC to address youth who are among the most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, but often the least likely to perceive they are at risk or take action to prevent infection. While focussing on HIV/AIDS prevention, this campaign will also address other aspects of RH such as sexual responsibility, avoiding unwanted pregnancies, and treating STDs. Based on qualitative and quantitative baseline research on young people's knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, a message design/material development (MD/MD) workshop will be held with youth and BCC, health, and youth development experts to design the campaign's key messages and materials. The campaign will be launched in Burkina and Côte d'Ivoire initially and will use mass-media and community participation strategies to disseminate prevention messages and a call to action to youth to develop a healthy life plan and use available RH services put in place in collaboration with SFPS/BCC.
