Ku Saurara! (Listen Up!)
PROJECT OVERVIEW
CCP and its collaborating partners support a coalition of youth serving organizations (YSOs) and service delivery organizations in northern Nigeria that offer adolescent reproductive health information and services to young people aged 15-24. The cornerstone of the Ku Saurara! (Listen Up!) project is its radio program, which began airing in April 2002.
Ku Saurara! is now in its fourth phase. Details on each phase of the project can be found as follows:
OBJECTIVES/STRATEGIES
While the project has evolved slightly through the phases, in general it was designed and is implemented to promote healthy behaviors among young people ages 10 to 24, enhance the policy environment for adolescent reproductive health, and improve the capacity of youth-serving organizations to support adolescent reproductive health activities. Specifically, activities have addressed the following Packard Foundation Nigeria objectives:
- # 3, reproductive health information and services available to youth ,
- # 4, promotion of early reproductive health decision making,
- # 6, increase in popular awareness of and promotion of positive policies to reduce reproductive health risks through public education and advocacy.
